Cuba energy blockade condemned by humanitarian network

The Network of Intellectuals, Artists and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity has issued a call for the international community to provide oil to Cuba, denouncing the current energy blockade. Juliana Marino, speaking on behalf of the network, characterized the denial of essential energy as a “transnational crime” and a form of “genocide” under international law.

Marino described the situation in Havana as a “dystopian saga,” noting that the lack of energy has caused widespread economic paralysis and disrupted the basic fabric of society. The blockade has led to severe shortages, making it difficult for citizens to secure water, maintain food supplies, and access medical care. The network argues that these conditions force migration and halt the creative and personal lives of the population.
