Cuba expands private fuel imports for small businesses

Since February, Cuba has permitted private import of gasoline and diesel from the United States, a policy that is now being used by a growing number of small and medium‑size enterprises (mipymes). Reports from Havana describe service stations that were formerly restricted to taxis now selling imported fuel at prices of about $5 per litre in the local market.

Cuban firm Katapulk announced it will supply fuel directly to mipymes, offering container shipments up to 25,000 litres at $1.64 per litre for gasoline and $1.84 for diesel, plus a 1,000‑litre diesel kit for smaller firms with delivery within 24–48 hours. The company stresses that all quotations, contracts and payments must be made through its official channels to avoid scams and impersonation.
