Cuba faces political surveillance and economic hardship

In Cuba, citizens face pervasive political surveillance and interrogation by the Ministry of the Interior’s intelligence department, colloquially known as ‘La G2’. These interrogations, often conducted via telephone without following legal requirements, contribute to a widespread atmosphere of suspicion and fear among the population.

Beyond political pressure, the country faces severe socioeconomic challenges. Havana is described as experiencing significant decay, and the lack of functional public transportation has created substantial difficulties for students and families, adding further strain to the domestic economy.
