Cuba holds national ceremonies for José Martí Pioneers Organization
Across various provinces in Cuba, including Mayabeque, Sancti Spíritus, and Havana, first-grade students officially joined the José Martí Pioneers Organization (OPJM). During these ceremonies, children received their blue neckerchiefs, a symbol of their new status as Moncadista pioneers. These events coincided with the start of the Camilo-Che Day, commemorating the anniversaries of the deaths of Ernesto Che Guevara and Camilo Cienfuegos.
In Havana, President Miguel Díaz-Canel attended the national ceremony at the Fabricio Ojeda primary school, where 89 students were inducted. The event included the presentation of the ‘Zapaticos de Rosa’ award to several educators and organizers. In Mayabeque and Sancti Spíritus, local authorities also presided over similar provincial ceremonies to mark the students' commitment to study and solidarity.
In a separate political development, President Díaz-Canel received José Miguel Mejía Abreu, Secretary General of the Movimiento Izquierda Unida from the Dominican Republic. The meeting focused on reaffirming historical ties and solidarity between the two nations.
