Cuba hosts 34th International Book Fair with Russia as guest of honor
The 34th Havana International Book and Literature Fair has taken place in Cuba with several notable changes to its format and timing. Due to budget cuts and economic pressures, the event was moved from its traditional February slot to August, coinciding with the centenary of Fidel Castro's birth.
The Havana edition was held across various locations, including the Línea and 18 warehouses in Vedado and the Sala Teatro Ciervo Encantado, rather than its usual venue at the Fortaleza de San Carlos de la Cabaña. Russia served as the guest of honor for the event.
In Villa Clara, the literary fair is scheduled to run from August 27 to August 30 in Santa Clara. This regional edition also features Russia as the guest of honor and will include programs at the Leoncio Vidal Park, the Provincial Library, and various cultural centers. The event aims to maintain cultural diversity despite a shorter duration compared to previous years.
