Cuba implements new sponsorship model for national baseball

The Cuban Baseball and Softball Federation is implementing new regulations to diversify funding for the country’s national baseball series. Under these new rules, the sport is moving away from sole reliance on state budgets toward a sponsorship model that can cover teams, stadiums, equipment, and travel expenses.

Juan Reinaldo Pérez Pardo, president of the Federation, noted that the Industriales team is a pioneer in this initiative. Additionally, progress is being made in Villa Clara, where the provincial government announced that three local businesses—La Glorieta, Pastelería 2 Reyes, and La Esquina de la Minuta—will sponsor the Villa Clara team’s uniforms for the 2026-2027 season.

These sponsorships can consist of either direct financial contributions or products intended to alleviate costs for fuel, food, and clothing. While provinces can manage these funds locally, the Federation and the National Commission will maintain organizational control over competitions, and national contracts must be channeled through Cubadeportes S.A.
