Cuba, India, and Colombia pursue new international trade and investment partnerships

Cuba and India are exploring expanded economic cooperation following discussions between Cuban First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Carlos Jorge Méndez and Indian Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada. Méndez highlighted Cuba's economic transformations aimed at attracting investors, specifically noting the technology sector as a priority, while addressing the challenges posed by the United States blockade. India shared its expertise in digital public infrastructure, transport, and the sugar industry to foster stronger bilateral ties.

In a separate development, Colombia is moving to accelerate a trade agreement between the Pacific Alliance (comprising Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru) and Singapore. Colombian Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism Mauricio Gómez Amín met with Singapore's Minister for National Development Alvin Tan to discuss the implementation of the deal. The Colombian government intends to fast-track the agreement through Congress and the Constitutional Court to establish Singapore as a strategic hub for Colombian interests in the Asia-Pacific region.
