Cuba informal currency market shows US dollar and euro volatility
The informal currency market in Cuba is experiencing continued volatility, with the US dollar and euro showing mixed trends. As of October 10, the US dollar has reached 775 Cuban pesos (CUP), approaching the 800-peso threshold and reflecting ongoing pressure on the national currency.
The euro remains a high-value currency in the parallel market, trading at approximately 870 to 872 CUP. Other currencies and digital platforms also show movement; the MLC (Freely Convertible Currency) has seen increases, reaching around 514 to 526 CUP, while the Canadian dollar and Zelle have also recorded rises. These fluctuations highlight the persistent currency shortages and the weakening purchasing power of the Cuban peso.
