Cuba intensifies crackdown on tax evasion and financial irregularities
Cuban authorities are intensifying efforts to prevent and combat tax evasion to protect state budget revenues. Representatives from the Ministry of the Interior (Minint), the Attorney General's Office of the Republic (FGR), and the National Tax Administration Office (ONAT) have outlined the mechanisms used to investigate irregular financial operations and recover defrauded funds.
Investigations are triggered by direct reports or through proactive research into financial irregularities. Authorities examine bank accounts, assets, and financial flows to identify responsible parties. These efforts involve cooperation between several institutions, including the Central Bank of Cuba, the General Customs of the Republic, and the Comptroller General of the Republic. Depending on the complexity, such investigations may also uncover related crimes like money laundering and lead to the confiscation of assets.
