Cuba launches third vehicle‑parts legalization program

Cuba's Ministry of Transportation (Mitrans) announced a new three‑stage process to legalize and register vehicles assembled from parts, such as motorcycles and other light transport. The initiative, presented by Mitrans head Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, follows two previous campaigns that regularized more than 100,000 homemade vehicles.

The new procedure, formalized in Resolution 47 and published in the Gaceta Oficial Extraordinaria No. 83, begins with owners registering on a dedicated digital platform. After registration, each vehicle will undergo a technical inspection to verify safety standards before receiving official certification.

The digital platform is being finalized and will be launched once technical specifications are completed, with authorities promising to inform the public of the activation date.
