Cuba marks 66th anniversary of Committees for the Defense of the Revolution

Cuba is celebrating the 66th anniversary of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), the country’s largest mass organization. Events marking the anniversary took place in various regions, including Isla de la Juventud and Cienfuegos.

In Isla de la Juventud, members and founders gathered to reflect on the organization's history, noting its role in past events such as the Bay of Pigs invasion and the 1962 Missile Crisis. Participants emphasized the organization's ongoing mission to maintain social unity and counter external pressures.

In Cienfuegos, a provincial ceremony honored several members for their long-term community service. The Council of State awarded the ‘Medal for the Defense of the Homeland and the Unity of the Neighborhood’ to eight individuals, while ten others received the ‘September 28 Distinction’ for their dedication to local tasks and the protection of revolutionary achievements.
