Cuba pledges support for strengthening the Eurasian Economic Union
Cuban Ambassador Enrique Orta, speaking at the expanded Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Cholpon‑Ata, Kyrgyzstan, reaffirmed Cuba’s willingness to help bolster the Eurasian Economic Union (UEE). He highlighted Cuba’s role as an observer and its intent to deepen economic, commercial, financial and technical cooperation with UEE member states.
Orta referenced the Joint Action Plan for cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission and Cuba for 2026‑2030, signed in Astana, Kazakhstan, which outlines projects to attract Eurasian investors, improve Cuba’s legal framework for foreign investment and promote mutually beneficial development initiatives.
The ambassador stressed that these steps aim to stimulate Cuba’s national production, generate revenue and improve living standards amid broader global economic shifts.
