Cuba PM Manuel Marrero Cruz urges public support for economic reforms

Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz has called on state officials and business leaders to motivate the population to recognize the practical results of recent economic reforms. Speaking at the conclusion of a three-day training session for heads of business groups and government boards in Havana, Marrero emphasized the need for the public administration to integrate and motivate citizens so they can perceive the effects of the economic transformations approved in June.

Marrero detailed that the reforms aim to establish a precise regulatory framework to ensure operational compliance. He noted that out of a package of transformations, 158 have been implemented involving 194 specific norms. The Prime Minister expressed optimism that increasing productive supply will gradually reduce market values and curb rising prices.

However, these official assessments contrast with the daily reality of citizens facing shortages of basic goods and severe inflationary pressures. Official data indicated an annual inflation rate of 25.19% as of the end of August.
