Cuba says it will not bar Donald Trump from investing on the island

Cuba’s Vice Foreign Minister Carlos Fernández de Cossío told The New York Times that the Cuban government does not exclude former U.S. President Donald Trump or his organization from doing business on the island, provided they comply with Cuban law. The statement was made as Havana seeks to attract more foreign investment and criticises U.S. sanctions that it says aim to isolate the country.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration has accused Cuba of spying on the United States, positioning the claim within the broader context of the president’s election campaign and heightened concerns about foreign espionage. The allegation continues a long‑standing pattern of mutual spying accusations between Washington and Havana, though no specific Cuban operatives have been publicly identified.
