Cuba to host international symposium on non-communicable diseases

Cuba will host an international symposium focused on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and their risk factors. Under the theme “For an integrated, sanitary and social vision in the approach to non-communicable diseases and their risk factors,” the event aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge regarding the prevention, detection, and treatment of these conditions.

NCDs represent a significant challenge for healthcare systems globally. According to the World Health Organization, these illnesses account for approximately 41 million deaths annually, representing 71 percent of all deaths worldwide. The symposium will address the high incidence and mortality rates of chronic diseases, as well as associated disabilities, mental health issues, and health challenges related to aging.
