Cuba women's volleyball wins NORCECA bronze and secures World Championship spot
The Cuban women's national volleyball team has secured a bronze medal at the NORCECA Championship in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Under the leadership of Brazilian coach Luizomar de Moura, the team defeated the Dominican Republic 3-0 to claim the podium, marking Cuba's first NORCECA medal in 15 years.
This performance has also guaranteed Cuba a spot in the upcoming World Championship and the NORCECA Olympic Qualifier. The qualification process aims to secure a place for the team at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, as Cuba has not participated in the Olympics since the 2008 Beijing Games.
Luizomar de Moura, the first foreign coach in the history of the Cuban federation, described the achievement as the beginning of a reconstruction process for a program that was once a global powerhouse. He noted that the team is showing significant technical and strategic growth.
