Cubal residents demand government aid over water shortage

Residents of the Cubal municipality in Benguela province are calling for government intervention following a water shortage that has lasted for more than a month. During a visit to the affected areas, municipal administrator Paulino Banja met with citizens who reported having to travel long distances to secure water for their reservoirs.

In addition to the lack of potable water, the population is also facing electricity supply issues that have disrupted community life. Residents noted that despite many homes being connected to the supply network, no water is flowing through the pipes.

Paulino Banja acknowledged the difficulties and stated that the situation has been reported to the Benguela provincial government. As an emergency measure, the municipal administration announced it will begin distributing water via cisterns to mitigate the impact on families while working toward a permanent solution.
