Cuban Ambassador engages in extensive political activity in Chile

Cuban Ambassador to Chile, Óscar Cornelio Oliva, has conducted over 60 public activities during his first nine months in the country, focusing heavily on strengthening ties with the Chilean Communist Party (PCCh).

Reports indicate Oliva has visited at least 13 municipalities, meeting with mayors, parliamentarians, and university representatives. His engagements include defending the Cuban Revolution and questioning the United States embargo. A notable event at the University of Chile, held in the presence of PCCh President Lautaro Carmona, prompted the Comptroller General of the Republic to instruct the university to rectify its procedures, as the event was authorized as cultural despite its political nature.

Oliva’s activities also involve meetings with various political figures, including former presidential candidate Daniel Jadue and communist senator Daniel Núñez. These interactions have drawn significant attention within Chilean diplomatic and political circles.
