Nicaraguan school honors the legacy of Fidel Castro

The Comandante Fidel Castro Ruz Educational Center in Ciudad Sandino, Nicaragua, held a commemorative event to honor the legacy of the late Cuban leader Fidel Castro. The ceremony was part of the celebrations marking the centenary of his birth.

During the event, the Mayor of Ciudad Sandino, María Elena Guillén, emphasized Castro’s influence regarding national sovereignty, independence, and self-determination. She also highlighted Cuba’s international solidarity, specifically noting the medical and scientific cooperation provided during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Cuban Ambassador to Nicaragua, Iliana Fonseca, described the event as a reflection of the historical brotherhood between Nicaragua and Cuba. She noted that Castro’s emphasis on education and values remains a point of connection between his ideals and the Sandinista Revolution.
