Cuban Association Hermanos Saíz Announces Major Cultural Programs

The Asociación Hermanos Saíz (AHS) has issued a call for the 36th edition of the audiovisual showcase El Almacén de la Imagen, to be held in Camagüey from 29 to 31 October 2026. The competition is open to filmmakers up to 35 years old, Cuban or foreign, and includes categories such as fiction, documentary, animation, short films, and promotional works. The Grand Prize Luces de la Ciudad offers a diploma and 50,000 Cuban pesos, with additional awards for direction, script, cinematography, editing, art direction, sound, original music and production. A pitching session will award the Beca Reino de este Mundo, providing 180,000 pesos for fiction projects and 150,000 pesos for animation and documentary projects.

In the summer, AHS is also organizing a series of events across Cuba. An electronic‑music festival, Stéreo G, will take place in Holguín, while the Jornada de la Canción Política is scheduled for Guantánamo from 1–4 August. Activities include visits to historic sites, community performances, and a commemoration of the centenary of Commander‑in‑Chief Fidel Castro in Pinar del Río on 13 August. Additional programs feature the Encuentro de Jóvenes Escritores at the 34th Havana International Book Fair, the Premios Calendario awards on 12 August, a literary‑artistic crusade in Camagüey and several other provinces, the release of the videoclip “Tus 100,” and the Feria de la Cultura Cubana Arte en la Rampa at the Pabellón Cuba.
