Cuban baseball players achieve historic milestones in Japan and MLB

Cuban baseball players are achieving historic milestones in both Japanese and American professional leagues.

In Japan, Raidel Martínez of the Yomiuri Giants has become the third all-time leader in saves in the Professional Baseball League. By securing his 253rd career save during a 2-1 victory over the Hiroshima Carp, Martínez surpassed the previous solo record held by Kazuhiro Sasaki. He now trails only Hitoki Iwase and Shingo Takatsu in the historical rankings. Martínez currently leads the Central League this season with an ERA of 1.23.

In Major League Baseball, Houston Astros hitter Yordan Álvarez has reached a rare statistical peak. With a .314 batting average, .431 on-base percentage, and .601 slugging percentage, Álvarez is leading the league in these categories. This achievement mirrors the offensive dominance seen by Venezuelan Miguel Cabrera during his 2013 Triple Crown season, marking a rare feat for Latin American players in the MLB.
