Cuban boat with 19 people, including seven children, reported missing

Families in Cuba are appealing for information regarding a makeshift boat carrying approximately 19 people that has been missing since departing Havana on Tuesday, August 11. The group is reported to consist of 12 adults and seven children, including two-year-old twins.

Journalists have reported that communication with the vessel was lost several days ago. While the exact destination and route have not been officially confirmed, speculation suggests the group was attempting to reach Mexico. Among those missing is 35-year-old Yusimy Garrobo Leiva from the Camagüey province, traveling with her children.

As of now, there is no official confirmation regarding the vessel's status or whether any maritime authorities, commercial vessels, or fishermen have conducted a rescue. Families remain in contact with journalists to spread pleas for any verifiable information regarding the whereabouts of their loved ones.
