Cuban film Neurótica Anónima gains international and local recognition

The Cuban film Neurótica Anónima, directed by Jorge Perugorría, is receiving positive reception both domestically in Cuba and at international film festivals. In Las Tunas, the film was presented at the Titón cinema as part of the Cuban Culture Day celebrations, highlighting efforts by the Provincial Film Center to revitalize interest in cinema through initiatives like mobile screens.

Internationally, the film was screened at the 15th Latin American and Caribbean Film Festival in Bern, Switzerland. The event, which saw a full house, was attended by diplomatic figures, including the Cuban Ambassador to Switzerland, Laura Ivet Pujol. The film, which is nominated for a Goya Award for Best Ibero-American Film, stars Mirtha Ibarra and is based on her theatrical work.

The plot follows a group of workers attempting to save a cinema threatened by structural collapse, serving as a metaphor for the preservation of art. It tells the story of Iluminada, an elderly woman who uses cinema to escape her difficult reality and personal neuroses.
