Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Denounces U.S. Blockade Claims

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla publicly refuted recent statements by the U.S. Secretary of State, accusing Washington of a total fuel blockade against Cuba. He highlighted contradictions in U.S. rhetoric, pointing out that while officials label Cuba’s economic challenges as “incompetence,” the United States simultaneously imposes secondary sanctions, restricts oil supplies, and limits access to technology for Cuban power plants. Rodríguez said the measures constitute a comprehensive economic siege aimed at weakening Cuba’s economy and creating social hardship, then blaming the Cuban government for the resulting crises.

He also criticized U.S. Senator Marco Rubio for urging subversive actions against Cuba’s constitutional order and promoting an interventionist agenda. The minister’s statements underscore ongoing tensions over the U.S. embargo and related restrictions on tourism, mining, and nickel industries, as well as travel limitations such as ESTA bans for visitors to Cuba.
