Cuba faces food shortages, journalist detention, and deportation issues

Cuba continues to face severe humanitarian and political challenges. Residents report acute food shortages and deficiencies in medical services, with some individuals describing their future as uncertain due to the lack of basic necessities.

In the realm of press freedom, Henry Constantín, director of the independent media outlet La Hora de Cuba, remains in provisional detention in Camagüey. He is being investigated for alleged disobedience, a charge contested by the Cuban Observatory for Freedom of Expression and Press (OCLE), which claims the legal proceedings involve arbitrary restrictions and procedural contradictions.

Additionally, concerns have been raised regarding the deportation of Cubans by the United States. Reports indicate that many individuals, some of whom entered the U.S. legally via programs like humanitarian parole or I-220A, are being deported to third countries, including various nations in Africa, often without prior knowledge of their final destination.
