Cuban music traditions featured in Alajeró and Orlando

Cuban musical traditions are being highlighted through various international performances. The acclaimed group El Septeto Santiaguero is scheduled to perform in Alajeró on September 13. The concert, which features traditional genres such as son, guaracha, and bolero, is part of the Jornadas Colombinas de La Gomera and is held in honor of the festivities for Nuestra Señora de El Paso.

In the United States, the Tony Award-winning musical Buena Vista Social Club will perform at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando from October 20 to 25, 2026. The production, staged at the Walt Disney Theater, tells a story inspired by the legendary album and features the music of Omara Portuondo. The show combines live music, dance, and acting to recreate the atmosphere of Havana and the lives of the artists behind the iconic recordings.
