Cuban musicians celebrate cultural heritage through Spanish-influenced performances
Cuban artists are preparing musical performances to celebrate cultural heritage and the influence of Spanish music. In Colima, soprano Vittoria Ainsley and pianist Lianne Vega Serrano will present “Suspiros de España: Romanzas y Bulerías” at the University of Colima on October 10. The program explores the impact of Spanish and Gypsy music on various composers, including Rossini, Donizetti, Agustín Lara, Ernesto Lecuona, and Gonzalo Roig.
In Havana, singer-songwriter Lester Lez will perform a recital at the National Museum of Music to mark National Culture Day. The repertoire includes works by Ernesto Lecuona, Juan Formell, Los Van Van, and Osvaldo Farrés. Lez will be accompanied by students from the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory and the National Lyric Theater Teaching Unit, performing in a space featuring the piano of Dutch composer Hubert de Blanck.
