Cuba's Antonio Guiteras power plant shut for boiler repairs

The Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric plant in Matanzas, Cuba, was taken offline early Thursday morning. At 4:58 a.m., it was disconnected from the National Electric System and placed in a cooling phase while the fault in its boiler was evaluated.

Plant technicians are focusing on repairing two tubes in the economizer and one tube in the high‑temperature reheater. The work aims to restore full operation after the identified defects during recent technical inspections.
