Cuba's CTC trains union leaders on economic reforms and labor code

The Central Workers' Central of Cuba (CTC) is conducting a nationwide training program for union leaders and cadres to prepare for the implementation of 176 economic and social transformations. A recent session held in Cienfuegos focused on these measures and the new Labor Code (Law 189).

CTC National Secretariat members José Antonio Pérez Pérez and Lidier Águila Machado emphasized the union movement's responsibility in representing workers and managing collective bargaining agreements. The training covers critical areas including wage payments, occupational health and safety, internal disciplinary regulations, and the establishment of local labor justice bodies.

The initiative aims to strengthen the development of national productive forces and ensure workers participate in discussions regarding budgets and plans. The analysis and debate process is scheduled to continue through December, with officials stressing that all labor collectives must thoroughly study the new measures.
