Cuba's Federation of Women honors Cienfuegos and Pinar del Río in national emulation awards
The Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) named the province of Cienfuegos a "Destacada" in the national emulation for the organization’s 66th anniversary. Secretary General of the FMC’s territorial organization, Ana Ibis Gómez Hernández, highlighted the province’s strong participation in economic tasks, training programmes, community prevention work, youth incorporation and high voluntary contributions, noting that over 93 % of women in Cienfuegos are integrated in the movement.
Separately, Pinar del Río was recognised as the leading province in the FMC’s 2026 emulation initiative announced during the centennial celebrations of Fidel Castro. National Secretary General Teresa Amarelle Boué announced the award, praising the province’s women for their roles in tobacco production, health services, low infant mortality, reduced teenage pregnancy and recycling efforts. Provincial secretary Danivia Borges Machuat emphasized the continued commitment of local block leaders and the legacy of Vilma Espín’s women‑advancement programme.
Both announcements stress the FMC’s call for women across Cuba to continue defending the Revolution and advancing social projects under the slogan “El Fidel que vive en mí.”
