Cuba's National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery marks 60 years
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated the National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery (INN) on its 60th anniversary. In a message shared on social media, the president praised the medical staff, nurses, and workers for maintaining excellence in the field of neurosciences despite the ongoing economic blockade.
The INN serves as the founding and governing body for neurosciences, neurology, and neurosurgery in Cuba. The institute has historically functioned as a primary training center for specialists across the country. Notable medical achievements include the first successful mechanical thrombectomy for ischemic stroke in Cuba, performed in 2018.
