Cuba's New Ambassador Presents Credentials to the Eastern Caribbean States

On 16 July 2026, H.E. Yenielys Vilma Regueiferos Linares, the ambassador‑designate of the Republic of Cuba, presented her letters of credence to Dr. Didacus Jules, Director‑General of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). Dr. Jules thanked Cuba for its “remarkably consistent” solidarity and highlighted the partnership’s focus on sustainable development, health, education, disaster resilience, agriculture and ocean governance.

The ceremony referenced long‑standing cooperation, including Cuban medical assistance during the COVID‑19 pandemic, scholarship programmes, hurricane‑recovery support, the EverProT diabetic‑foot ulcer treatment, the “Yes I Can” literacy initiative and Operation Miracle, which restored vision to thousands across the Caribbean. The ambassador also noted Cuba’s pressing energy shortage, having received only one oil vessel in seven months, affecting hospitals, schools and other sectors.
