Cuba's Serie Nacional 65 baseball tournament to begin October 4

The 65th Serie Nacional de Béisbol in Cuba is set to begin on October 4, 2026. The tournament will officially open at the Victoria de Girón stadium in Matanzas, where the defending champions, Cocodrilos, will face Cienfuegos.

In Las Tunas, the Leñadores team held a flag-raising ceremony at the Plaza de la Revolución Vicente García to mark their preparation. The team is scheduled to debut at home in the Julio Antonio Mella stadium against Ciego de Ávila from October 4 to 7, followed by a series against Sancti Spíritus.

Meanwhile, the Holguín Cachorros, aiming to dominate Group D, are preparing for a competitive season. Team director Lugdis Pineda noted that the group will be challenging due to the presence of offensive teams like Santiago and Granma. Holguín's roster includes key players such as Yasiel González, Lázaro Cedeño, and Michel Gorguet, alongside returning players Nelson Batista, Luis R. Domínguez, and Adriel Hechevarria.
