Cuenca and Almonacid de Zorita brotherhoods sign twinning agreement

The brotherhoods of Nuestra Señora de la Luz from Cuenca and Almonacid de Zorita have formalized a twinning agreement centered on their shared Marian devotion. The ceremony took place at the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Luz in Cuenca and was presided over by Bishop José María Yanguas Sanz.

The agreement establishes a long-term collaboration with a significant milestone set for 2030. This year will mark the 500th anniversary of the arrival of the patron saint in Almonacid de Zorita. The brotherhood of Almonacid aims to use this period to promote the Canonical Coronation of their patroness, a process to be managed through the Diocese of Sigüenza-Guadalajara.

As part of the agreement, the already canonically crowned Virgin of Light from Cuenca may serve as a godmother during the 2030 coronation festivities if the process is successful. Following the recent patron saint festivals, a plural commission will be established to prepare for the upcoming five-hundred-year anniversary.
