Cuenca council urged to expedite road and park safety upgrades

The Cuenca municipal council voted unanimously to adopt a motion demanding immediate improvements to the road markings and overall safety on the N‑420 approach to the Fernando Zóbel high‑speed rail station. PP councillor Bea Jiménez said the horizontal signage is severely deteriorated, that promised repainting has not been carried out, and she called for a clear timetable, a comprehensive safety review and accountability from the governing administration.

Jiménez also inspected the historic Parque del Huécar, describing the pedestrian pathway and vegetation as being in a critical state. She announced that the Popular group will present a request at the July plenary for urgent resurfacing of the footpaths and re‑planting of the park’s flora, warning of a real risk of falls for residents. The ruling team denied any breach of obligations, saying maintenance works are already underway under a contract signed in November 2025.
