Junta de Andalucía considers new language requirements for public jobs
The Junta de Andalucía is considering new requirements for public employment calls in 2024 and 2025. Proposed conditions include a minimum B1 level certification in a foreign language—such as English, French, or German—and official digital competency certification.
The Sindicato Andaluz de Funcionarios (SAF) has expressed concern, noting that candidates who pass their exams could be denied appointment if they lack these specific certificates. Unions argue that the proposal, which was originally intended as a pilot program for specific sectors, is being expanded to all administrative bodies without a completed evaluation of the initial tests or a transitional period for those already preparing for exams.
The Consejería de Administración Pública has stated that the measure is not yet finalized and remains under development.
