Cuenca housing sales reach levels not seen since 2008

Home sales in the province of Cuenca, Spain, have reached their highest levels since 2008. According to data from the National Statistics Institute, 1,878 housing transactions were recorded between January and August 2026. This represents a 30.05% increase compared to the same period last year.

The Association of Construction Entrepreneurs and Affiliates of Cuenca (APYMEC) notes that this growth indicates demand is significantly outstripping supply. APYMEC president Rafael Cortés highlighted that nearly nine out of ten transactions involve existing homes, as there is a lack of new developments and social housing.

While the increase in sales volume is a positive economic indicator for the province, industry leaders are calling for more investment in new and protected housing to improve market accessibility.
