Cuenca mayor Darío Dolz urged to act on fire‑risk vegetation
The Popular Party group in the Cuenca City Council has called on Mayor Darío Dolz to launch an immediate plan to review, clean and clear dry vegetation from urban parcels, solar plots and other public spaces. The party argues that the proximity of dense, dry foliage to residential areas raises the danger of summer wildfires.
The council previously warned about vegetation on ADIF land in the Casablanca area, and a fire later broke out there, which the party says proves the need for preventive measures. The councilors demand rapid action by municipal authorities and request that other administrations and private landowners also fulfill their maintenance obligations to reduce fire risk.
