Cuenca San Mateo festivities conclude with medical reports and future expansion plans

The conclusion of the San Mateo festivities in Cuenca resulted in twelve medical interventions, according to data from the City Council. Three of these cases required hospital transfers. The medical activity was concentrated during the afternoon session, coinciding with the final bull runs in the Old Quarter, which saw ten interventions including several cases of head trauma.

Looking ahead to 2027, local political leaders from both the PSOE and PP have proposed extending the San Mateo celebrations to five days. This proposal aims to align the festivities with the 850th anniversary of the city's conquest by Alfonso VIII, potentially allowing the festival to span a full weekend from September 17 to 21.
