Cuenta DNI enables QR code payments for public transport

Banco Provincia has introduced a new feature to its Cuenta DNI digital wallet that allows users to pay for public transportation using a QR code generated within the app. This update eliminates the need for physical transit cards or prior balance reloads, as the fare is deducted directly from the user's linked savings account.

The system is currently operational on the subway network and bus lines within the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area that possess compatible readers. Additionally, the service is available for provincial and municipal services in various cities across Buenos Aires province, including Bahía Blanca, Mar del Plata, and Tandil. While the transaction is immediate, the debit may take up to 72 hours to reflect in the account history.
