Cuenta DNI enables QR code payments for public transport
Banco Provincia has enabled QR code payments for public transportation through its Cuenta DNI digital wallet. This new feature allows nearly 11 million users to pay for trips via subways and buses without the need for physical cards or prior reloads, as funds are deducted directly from the account.
The system is currently operational within the Buenos Aires City subway network and on all bus lines equipped with SUBE card payment terminals. This includes national, provincial, and municipal lines. The service is also available in various provincial and municipal lines in cities such as Bahía Blanca, Mar del Plata, Tandil, Olavarría, and Necochea.
To use the service, users must select the ‘Pagar viaje con QR’ option within the app, generate a code, and present it to the reader. Transaction details are reflected in the account movements within 72 hours.
