Cuernavaca gas explosion: Victim dies and Grupo Tomza subsidiary linked

Viviana Aguilar Zendejas has died at Hospital La Raza following a gas tanker explosion in the Las Granjas neighborhood of Cuernavaca. Aguilar Zendejas had been hospitalized for a week after using her body to protect her six-year-old daughter during the incident on August 6.

The Fiscalía General del Estado de Morelos is intensifying its investigation to determine responsibility for the explosion. Authorities have recorded 58 complaints related to the event, primarily concerning injuries and property damage.

The explosion has drawn scrutiny toward Grupo Tomza, a fuel conglomerate founded in 1961. One of the group's subsidiaries, Transportadora Silza, has been linked to the vehicle involved in the accident. The company operates within a large structure of energy distribution and storage companies across Mexico and Central America.
