Cuernavaca gas explosion leads to medical evacuation of injured teenager
A 15-year-old girl, Carla, is being medically evacuated to Galveston, Texas, following a gas LP tanker explosion in Cuernavaca. Carla sustained first and second-degree burns covering 58% of her body after using her body to protect her four-year-old sister during the blast.
With support from Shiners México, the teenager was scheduled for air ambulance transport to receive specialized treatment in the United States. Her family reported that she remained in stable condition while awaiting the transfer.
The explosion has resulted in multiple hospitalizations. At least seven people have been hospitalized, with patients receiving care in Morelos, Jiutepec, and Mexico City. Local citizens have also begun delivering food supplies to families affected by the incident.
