Cuerpo de Bomberos de Santiago honored at local events

The Cuerpo de Bomberos de Santiago (CBS) recently participated in the Motor Clásica Chile 2026 exhibition held at the Club Hípico de Santiago. During the event, a historic Mack vehicle from the 9th Company, “Bomba Yungay,” received second place in the “Pickups and Others Class E – F 1946 to 1970” category. The exhibition featured nearly one hundred motorized vehicles and included demonstrations by CBS Youth Brigades.

In a separate ceremony, the Municipality of Santiago and the CBS honored Elías Cares Squiff, a volunteer from the 12th Company who died in the line of duty 50 years ago. To commemorate his sacrifice, the street Capuchinos, located between Ricardo Cumming and General Bulnes, has been renamed in his honor. The ceremony was attended by Santiago Mayor Mario Desbordes Jiménez and CBS Superintendent Álvaro Lara Alba.
