CUET UG 2027: Proposed reforms include one-day exam pattern
The Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) is expected to undergo significant structural changes starting in 2027. An Examination Reform Committee has proposed a ‘one student, one day’ model designed to reduce the travel time and expenses incurred by students who currently must visit examination centres on multiple days.
Under this proposed system, students would complete all selected subjects on a single assigned day. To facilitate this, officials from the Ministry of Education, University Grants Commission (UGC), and the National Testing Agency (NTA) are discussing several reforms, including shortening the duration of individual papers and potentially reducing the subject limit from five to four.
Another key component involves a new grouping system where subjects would be organized by common combinations. For example, students opting for science programmes might be grouped together to take Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in one sitting. The goal is to streamline the examination cycle while ensuring that university admission requirements remain satisfied.
