CUF receives “Excellent” sustainability rating from EthiFinance
The European ESG rating agency EthiFinance has awarded the Portuguese healthcare institution CUF an “Excellent” sustainability rating, with an overall score of 8.9 out of 10. The evaluation assessed four key pillars: governance, employees, environment, and relationships with external stakeholders.
The highest score was achieved in the social dimension regarding external stakeholders, which received 9 out of 10. This rating reflects CUF’s partnerships with social organizations, health literacy initiatives, inclusion efforts, volunteering, and support for research, as well as patient safety and quality practices. The employee pillar scored 8.2, highlighting professional development, diversity, and workplace safety. Governance received 7.6, while the environmental pillar was rated at 6.6, categorized as “Advanced.”
Environmental achievements noted by CUF include a 20% reduction in energy intensity compared to 2022, a significant decrease in paper consumption, and a fleet that is 52% electric or hybrid. Rui Diniz, President of the CUF Executive Committee, stated that integrating sustainability into management involves considering the effects of decisions on professionals, patients, communities, and resources.
