CUFA launches free nationwide emotional care program in Brazil

The Central Única das Favelas (CUFA) announced a nationwide free emotional‑care program on May 7, providing online psychological counseling across Brazil. In partnership with Favela Seguros, the initiative will use a digital platform for pre‑registration, aiming to serve an initial 5,000 users with up to two tele‑counseling sessions per month for a maximum of three months. Participants may be referred to specialized services when needed.

The launch was marked by simultaneous events in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro and includes a Mother’s Day action focused on mothers living in favelas. CUFA will link the online service to its community bases nationwide, extending local access. “We have been doing this work in our bases and in emergency actions; now we are organising it at scale,” said Kalyne Lima, CUFA’s national president.
