Cuiabá and Cruzeiro do Sul lead tree‑planting drives in Brazil's Environment Month

In Cuiabá, the municipal government continued its "Craques da Natureza: Plantou, Colou!" campaign on 28 June, planting 600 tree seedlings in the Pedra 90 neighbourhood. The event involved children from local projects, families and volunteers, and handed out 1,000 football‑sticker packages to encourage participation. The initiative is part of the city’s goal to plant roughly 4,000 trees across the capital during the month of environmental activities.

In Cruzeiro do Sul, the Secretariat of Climate, Environment and Sustainability concluded the Environment Month with the distribution of 302 native ipê seedlings and a school competition. Three high‑school teams presented projects on reforestation and pollution mitigation; the winners received cash prizes ranging from R$500 to R$1,000 and additional seedlings. Organisers highlighted the projects’ focus on soil degradation, fire prevention and community health, aiming to raise public awareness and increase urban greenery.

Both programmes were supported by local officials and sought to involve the community in sustainable planting and environmental education.
