Cuiabá authorities inspect businesses for safety and protection protocols

Authorities in Cuiabá are conducting intensive inspections of local businesses to ensure compliance with safety and consumer protection regulations.

Procon Municipal and State agencies are implementing the ‘Não é Não’ (No means No) protocol in bars, restaurants, and shopping centers. This initiative aims to prevent violence against women by requiring establishments to train staff to recognize signs of harassment or risk, provide discreet assistance, and facilitate contact with emergency services. Businesses found in violation have been issued notifications to implement required measures, such as displaying emergency contact numbers and training employees to recognize distress signals.

Simultaneously, the Municipal Secretariat of Public Order (SORP) has launched the ‘Operação Retomada’ in the Porto neighborhood. This operation involves sanitary surveillance and fire safety inspections. Officials identified several irregularities, including improper food handling and inadequate emergency lighting or signage. Business owners have been given specific deadlines to rectify these issues or face fines and potential closure.
