Cuiabá authorities seek community help after school wiring thefts
The Cuiabá City Hall is calling on the community to report thefts of electrical wiring and air conditioning cables following repeated incidents at the Rafael Rueda Municipal Basic Education School (EMEB). The thefts, occurring between July and October, have compromised the school's ability to function, particularly affecting climate control during high temperatures.
Interim Municipal Secretary of Sports and Leisure, Mateus Silva Alves, noted that despite police reports, security guards, and the installation of cameras, the crimes persist, often occurring on Fridays and Sundays. Beyond the direct cost of replacing stolen materials with public funds, the damage to windows and physical structures has further disrupted educational activities and impacted local families.
